Medication Policy Review
As we approach the winter months, it is important to review
our medication policy. Students are not allowed to bring
medications, including over-the-counter medicine to school. Cough
drops, antacids (Tums), Tylenol, and Benadryl are available in
the Health Suite to help students with minor illnesses and discomfort. These
are only given after a student has been assessed by the school
nurse and with the signed parental permission form that was sent
home at the beginning of the year. If you would still like
your child to have cough drops from home, please send them in
a Ziploc baggie with a note from you.(this is for cough drops
only!) I will keep them in my office.
If your child needs to take medication in school, it MUST be
accompanied by a written physician order. I can not accept
the drug information sheet supplied by the pharmacist as a written
order. This applies to any over-the counter medications
as well. If you have any questions please call me at 410-668-4492
or e-mail me at jjones5@bcps.org.
